  • Book I'm Reading: No time for reading!

Well, I created a monster with too many websites...personal business site, Ebay, Etsy, two blogs, dozens of Email and yahoo groups.  I've decided to only try to keep up with one blog.  You can see it here:

Soccer, Lost Cell Phones, Children that have to Pee, Sick Dogs

  • Mood: Hopeful
  • Book I'm Reading: none at the moment

Well, Saturday I drove 2 hours so we could go see the Sheffield Wednesday Owls, a soccer team from 'across the pond' come play the Wilmington Hammerheads.  It rocked, although there was quite a rain and lightening delay.  We tailgated with a ton of English fanatics that followed the team across, and generally had a good time before the game.  Driving home at 1 AM my son decided he had to pee.  Well I pulled over on the side of the road.  A bunch of stuff fell out of the car, so I picked it up and put it back and went on with my duties and continued our travels.  When we got home, I realized we were missing a cell phone.  It's black, so I must not have seen it fall out.  All day Sunday I had something to do, so late Sunday afternoon I decided that I was going to go find that phone, no matter what.  So I drove back and looked around for two hours or so and found it.  Which is good, because that saved me $200, and with a dog that's about to have a very expensive surgery, any money saved is a plus!

About two weeks ago I adopted a black lab.  This dog must have been left by people that moved out of state.  She's smart, trained, and gorgeous, but she's very skinny and in bad shape.  Why would people leave a dog like that???  I named her Pearl (for the Black Pearl..yes, I have a pirate fetish).  Anyway, she is a doll.  Well it turns out she's very sick.  She has pyometria, which is a horrible uterine infection, she needs to be spayed (which I knew) but it turns out this condition is a little bit more serious than that.  It can cause sepsis, and a ton of other problems.  Anyway, she goes in for surgery tomorrow.  I feel like she's ready, she's put on some weight since we got her (thank goodness, because she looked like a skeleton with fur) and she has been on some pretty strong antibiotics, so she must be feeling a bit better, because she's wantering around instead of just laying around.  So wish us luck.  She has surgery tomorrow.  I have no idea how I'm going to get her in the car after we're done, but I'm hoping everything goes ok, because we're already very attached to her.

Wow, it's been a really long time since I posted in here!  I've been selling at a new site called www.Etsy.com.  It's for all hand made items.  My shop there is www.AuntieDis.Etsy.com.  Things are going well.  I've been keeping busy making jewelry and candles.  I guess I'll spend this weekend updating all my sites, and get some new items on my website too.  Hope all is well with everyone!  Stop in and say hey if you get the chance!

I have not fallen off the face of the earth!! It's still hot here..no fall weather in sight! Ugh!  I wish for a cool day!

Hope all is well with everyone else.  The evil cat has graduated from toilet paper to paper towels..ugh....darn cat!  She's paper producting me out of house and home!!!

I'm back...

  • Mood: Busy Busy Busy
  • Book I'm Reading: No time to read...

After a long and painful mope, I'm back.  Although I strongly suspect that it's due to the fact that if I don't get my act together, I'll never do well at this craft show this weekend, and I at least want to make my booth fee and the tent rental back, even if that's it, and I just get my name out there.  If I plan to do more of these outside shows, I WILL be purchasing an EZ up, although the price alone bugs me.  I firmly believe I'll be back to moping and depression after it's over.  Yes, you're right, it's 1 PM ..yes, you're also correct in assuming I'm home from work....playing hookie is a wonderful thing!!!   I'm pouring candles like a madwoman.  I will be up all night doing this.  It's ok, I like it.  Tomorrow and Sunday I'll get to make jewelry all day at the show, so it's only fair that I make candles.  I didn't get as much done last weekend as I had hoped.

I'm ready to kick this cats butt.  She's totally wrecking everything she can, and I swear she does it on purpose.  The other day I went to get something out of the kitchen cabinet, and I almost peed my pants when she stuck her paw down from up on top.  She was so quiet and still that I didn't even know she was up there.  Grrrr...Right now she's running from one window to the other and tearing up my blinds...hey, what difference does it make?  I only RENT...lol

Hope all is well with everyone else. Drop in and say hey!

Stupid People....

  • Mood:

I am so mad right now I am seeing red.  I got a phone call last night from one of the horse owners at the barn.  Even though I don't work there any more, it only took 2 weeks for everyone to learn that I know more about horses in my little finger than the people that own the barn.  Anyway, it's 9:30 PM, one of their horses is colicking.  I tell them I'm going to go out there.  They say "Pay the vet bill, the horse is yours"  I agree, knowing full well that it's a gamble, but also knowing that if it's a simple case, for a $500-$700 vet bill, I've got a great horse.  I get out there, the owner of the barn (the same person I previously lectured about feeding properly and taking care of the horses) says to me "She's been up and down in her stall all day since about noon."  Instant and absolute fury on my part.  When a horse has a stomach ache, they can not vomit like a human.  When their stomach starts to hurt, their response is to lay down and roll around on the ground.  At this point, you can ease the stomach ache with a flushing of the stomach and medication, and the horse will be fine 99.9% of the time.  WHEN THE VET IS CALLED AT FIRST SIGN OF DISTRESS!!!  It's now 9:30 PM...I am so mad.  We load up the horse on a trailer and take her to someone else's barn where she can be watched all night because the owners of this barn are pissed that they have to stay out there!! Do you believe that? Anyway, I'm still hoping for the best at this point.  If a horse KEEPS rolling around, chances are they're going to twist their intestines.  This can only be repaired with surgery.  (At the least, it would have cost $7000!!)  I know full well I can not afford this, and the owners of the horse are not willing to pay this.  The vet sure is not going to do it for free.  Still hopeful, the vet comes out, examines her internally, and yes, she has a twist.  We talk, it's 5 AM.  We decide to wait and pray for a miracle because at this point she was not in pain, she was getting fluids, and was resting easy.  10 AM things start to escalate, her heart rate goes up, and I was forced to make the decision to euthanize her, all because of the stupidity of someone who knows NOTHING about horses, and REFUSES to allow anyone to educate him.  I am now out a vet bill that's going to run about $800 and out a horse.  I knew it was a gamble, but honestly I was hoping for the best.  In my heart, I can not just put any animal to sleep without trying to save them first.

My fiance still does not know about this whole episode, and when he finds out he's going to kill me.  Luckily the vet is going to allow me to make payments.  But still, it's going to pinch.  I pray that my craft show this weekend goes well and that things pick up on the auction sites and my website.

I am so angry right now, and heart sick, that I can't even stand myself.  I want to go out to the barn and give the owner what for, but I know it will do no good.  I just simply can't believe the stupidity of some people, so another wonderful animal suffers due to the stupidity of a human.

Send some sun!

  • Mood:

A few power flickers, tons of rain and lots of wind so far.  Supposedly this storm is moving out now.  I guess we'll see what happens.  Hopefully school will be closed tomorrow so I don't have to go to work! LOL...but my son is driving me nuts.  He wants to go to school.  I did get some cool jewelry done today.  I'm getting excited about this 2 day show next weekend.  (Thank goodness not this weekend!)  I get paid tonight, and I'm going to go shoppin!

I'm going to turn the computer off again just in case.  Check back with y'all later!

Hurricane ramblings....

  • Mood: Hangin' In There

So far so good.  Lots of rain.  Nothing exciting.

I chased the two horses around the field for 2 hours this afternoon so I could get them in the barn and in stalls before all this hit.  I had flip flops on..Uh...DUH!!! LOL..there were already puddles about a foot deep in the fields..finally I just took my shoes off and went barefoot.  I thought it was going to be a quick catch..in and out and no one gets hurt...hahaha..yeah right....The one horse is skittish already, so he never wants to be caught, and with the impending hurricane, they're all flighty anyway.  Pretty soon we had ALL the horses running...and there I was, like a fool in flip flops, sweat pants wet to my thighs trying to catch them...lol  Even the lure of food didn't do it.

I made some cool beaded stuff today.  Some day I'll figure out this picture thing.

Hope everyone is having a good day.  No school or work again tomorrow.  Ugh, two days off is not good on the old pocketbook.  I had to take off today because of no school, so someone had to stay with my son.  Unfortunately nothing happened until after school would have been out anyway.  In fact, it didn't even start raining or anything until night time.  Tomorrow they closed down work anyway, so that's good.  I wonder if we'll even go to work Thursday or Friday.  This storm is moving so slow that it is definitely going to flood us.  4 MPH!!  Sheesh.  It'll never be gone.

I watched the new show "Bones" tonight, and the season premiere of "House"...both very good.  I think that's the most TV I've watched in ages!

Well, it's back to the ol' living room for me!  The beads are calling my name, and I think my son is crashed out on the couch.

Icky weather...

  • Mood:

Well, the sky is black, the winds are high, but now there's no rain.  I have no idea how long it rained last night, but there's puddles.  It's 8:15 AM.  We still have electricity.  I'm going to run to FedEx before it gets REALLY ugly.  I'll keep y'all posted as long as I can.  Supposedly she's hanging out in the ocean, pretty much stationary.  But she's closer, because it's much worse wind and sky than yesterday.

Here comes Ophelia.....

  • Book I'm Reading: Bead & Button Magazine

Well, it's pouring outside.  It started about 1/2 hour ago.  It sounds like water running from a faucet, it's a constant.  I don't hear much wind yet.  The beach is going to have lots of treasures washed up on it after this!

I think I'm going to shut down my computer and get out in the living room and bead some.  Keep an eye on the TV...light a candle just in case the power goes out.  (Gee, think I can find a candle in here? LOL)  It's already surged once, and I can't afford to lose this computer, so I better shut down.

Hope everyone's having better weather than we are!!
